The Bible says we are to "go and make disciples". spread His gospel, reach lost souls for him. So how do we do that? I'm a stay at home mom. I find going to the grocery store hard with two children! That's probably the only non-Christians I come in contact with. Trying to volunteer is out of the question. Unless I find someone to watch both my kids on a weekday when most everyone I know, works, or has kids *or about to have kids* of their own. I'm in a MOPS group, and while not my own religion *SDA*, it's still mostly Christians. I sometimes come into contact with Jake's co-workers and they know we are Christian but not really sure how to witness to them when they are male and I don't really know them. That and really most of them are Christian as well *Catholic, Baptist, non-denominational*. So how am I suppose to do that?
Or what about hose who live, work, and breathe only in a Christian community?? When the only "outsiders" are those they come in contact with when eating out or grocery shopping. I mean, they start from kindergarten, sometimes preschool, in a Christian school, they go to a Christian college, and then they work for a Christian school/organization/so on? How do they witness to non-Christians? Sure they could have chosen a job that wasn't affiliated with Christians but they didn't, so how do they witness to non-believers?
Volunteering isn't always an option. Unless we master the art of balancing work, family, home, and volunteering. And I'm sure if you walk up to a stranger in Walmart and start preaching the gospel to them, you might just scare them away! We've had conversations with workers that eventually led to church however that was over the course of several months and several times of seeing them while they were working. There's always mission work, but I want here. Where I live. My community. Not some other state or country. And I've done a couple out of state too! And is there anything that would be safe for me to bring my children too? I mean, wouldn't it be good to show them what it means to witness to non-believers and reach the lost and love those that aren't necessarily like us? So how do people who work in a Christ centered job/school/home life or stay at home parents witness to non-believers without sacrificing our families/work/school to do it? I'm really interested in knowing your thoughts on this cause it's something I personally struggle with. I can barely control my 2 year old in public at the store. I dread taking my kids to the store. And who am I going to leave them with when I go volunteer somewhere when pretty much everyone I know has their owns kids or works/goes to school? So, how do you reach the lost for your Savior? Because I'd really like to reach the lost for my Savoir!

I would love to share some ideas with you at church!
We are still figuring this out too, so let us know what you come up with. One thing I do know is that grace is rare. When you love people who don't deserve it, forgive people that don't deserve it WHEN you are wronged and live graceful lives you ARE preaching the gospel. We don't deserve forgiveness and it was offered freely, no other belief system has that. Start simply...
I feel a great way is by showing God's love. When the recession started, I found myself in line at the store a couple of times when people ahead of me were checking out and would have to put groceries back because they couldn't afford them. I talked to Jason and I decided that each month I would place a little bit of money in my purse and if this happens I would be able to help with a simple 'God loves you'.
Also, our church started a community outreach. We volunteer to read with kids at elementary schools. Plus, several times over the summer we have community days where we help various businesses and our School District with various tasks.
I hope this helps.
It can be overwhelming. Just remember to salt your speech. I have learned that I may not be the one to bring some people to Christ and to say the sinner's prayer with them right there in the grocery store. (That would be so cool though!) I am there to do God's Will and that is to speak of Jesus and demonstrate his Gospel of Grace. I am there maybe to plant seeds....or water them. Like Heidi. I love that idea.
"Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each other." Colossians 4:5-6
The Holy Spirit will tell you what to say or do.
