May 28th Chloe turned 10 months old. And also had her first plan ride. I was nervous. I'll admit it. I talked to people who traveled with babies and I asked questions and I knew what I need to do, have a bottle for take off and landing and toys and snacks for the actually trip. But I was still nervous. Specially after going through security in Pasco Airport who didnt really do a good job of helping me. I had Chloe in the ergo on me, a back pack on my back, the stroller with her convertible carseat on top and the diaper bag in that. They wanted my to take my shoes off, place the diaper bag and back pack on the conveyor belt minus the the bottles and then put the carseat and stroller on the conveyor belt also. All while holding Chloe. Great. No help either. The guy behind me finally helped me after all but the stroller were on the conveyor belt and the stroller was mostly on. However he did help me unfold the stroller and set the carseat on it. It wasnt till we actually boarded the plane that the workers helped me! I was nervous about who would sit next to me. What if its someone who doesnt like babies, what if Chloe doesnt do well. I hope I dont annoy everyone! Luckily, a nice godly woman switched places with the guy next to me. She told him she is use to kids, she has 9. She sat beside talked to me a bit and then proceeded to read her book. I figured that was the end of that. She actually chatted with me through out the flight and then, without me asking at all, she grabbed my diaper bag and carried it off the plane through the rain to an elevator and up to the terminal where we parted ways. A worker had my stroller and carseat. Very nice woman and in talking to her I learned she was a believer and had been in Walla Walla visiting her parents. Sweet lady! God Bless her for blessing me! *Jake was already in Seattle as we had two separate flights to Seattle.* We met up with Jake in Seattle and proceeded to LA where Chloe slept most of the flight. She did extremely well!
On arriving in LA, we headed to Will and Michelle's apartment on Sunset Blvd which took us almost an hour to get there because of the holiday traffic. We saw the apartment, talked a bit and then headed off walking to a little sushi restaurant down the street for dinner. I must say, Im not a fan of sushi. Bleh! But the conversation and walk was enjoyable. We headed back to the house and the boys went and got stuff to make am mixed south american drink and diapers. I had my first drink in almost 2 years that night. After Chloe went to bed, we played scattergories and and drank the mixed drink. We had fun. Miss Chloe however did not sleep well as it was kinda hot in the room and she was in a new place. But she did pretty decent.
On Saturday, we headed to the beach! Oh what fun it was! Chloe loved crawling around in the sand and eating it and trying to eat shells and seaweed. She wasnt too excited about the cold ocean water! But she really enjoyed herself. We walked along the Santa Monica pier and got a lot of pictures, saw a lot of people, and fun little shops. The view was beautiful! Its a good thing we had Chloe's hat and put sunscreen on her. Only her little cheeks and a spot on her legs got sunburned which disappeared the next day. The rest of us werent that smart. Will and Jake did put some sunscreen on but not enough. Michelle and I didnt put any on. Jake and Will checked out the cold water while Michelle and I only dipped our feet in it. But man did we all get burned! Me the worst! Then Michelle, then Jake and then Will. Miss Chloe is the only one who made it out ok. But we had a blast! We headed back to the apartment to kinda wind down and let Chloe have a nap and figure out plans for dinner. We decided when Chloe woke up we would bbq down by the pool. Chloe LOVED the pool. We put her in a little floaty and she had a blast. She kicked her little legs and just talked and giggled and was just happy. She really enjoyed herself. The rest of us did too but wanted to go in the hot tub to warm up as it was getting cold. Only Will was able to get in. The rest of us were burned to badly. Jake tried. He had his feet and upper body in the air. The rest in the hot tub. It was funny! We went in, gave Chloe a bath, fed her and put her to bed. Then we watched The Interpreter and ate popcorn and ice cream. Another fun night.
Sunday, we planned on going to Hollywood, IKEA, the zoo, and the observatory. We drove down Sunset strip and had lunch at In N Out burgers which I must say was decent! We walked down Hollywood Blvd and saw some "stars" and stopped in at a souvenir shop. We saw some odd people and some not so great shops, and we would have explored more but the sun was hurting our burned bodies so we headed to IKEA. I must say, I will definitely be looking there for our living room furniture when we are ready. Very nice! After IKEA, miss Chloe was getting fussy so we headed back to the apartment to put her down for a nap. When she woke we had dinner and headed to the observatory as the zoo was already closed. The observatory was nice. You saw the view, which was pretty and they had some interesting things inside. We got to see a Tessla Coil which I have no clue about it but was cool to see them turn it on! It was cool and fun and we even got to look in a telescope and see Saturn! That was fun! Afterwards, we headed back but went down hollywood blvd and the sunset strip to see all the crazy people standing in ridiculously long lines for the clubs. Very interesting people out at night!
Then we headed home with a very long layover in Seattle where our phones decided our location was actually Paris France! It was odd! But we had an awesome trip and loved hanging with Will and Michelle. Chloe enjoyed herself and did really well. We will definitely have to take more airplane trips but for now, we are glad to be home again where Miss Chloe doesnt have to be restricted anymore and go stand/crawl to her hearts content!
On a side note, Jake has been looking into simplifying his wallet. Him and Will got to talking about duct tape wallets and actually made 1 of plastic and 3 of duct tape. It was very entertaining to watch them!!
