So every once in awhile I see this show on MTV called Sweet Sixteen. Now I know most people havent seen it. Its a show about rich kids having a birthday party that will be the best party that city has ever seen. Basically its a show about spoiled little rich kids getting their way. They want something they get it. Thousands of dollars is spent on these kids birthday parties. They will fly to paris and buy handmade shoes they helped design and pick out 3 outfits they will wear in one night, the biggest performer possible and the most expensive car ever! One girl actually bought a car that wasnt on the market yet and it was like $300,000!
While watching this lovely show, Im thinking about my credit card debt, the bills that I have monthly, the new baby in my tummy, and the fact that I cant buy a house at the moment cause of all the stuff I just mentioned. Plus I think about my moms group-House Rats-they are trying to get a shelter together for homeless youth. Youth who were kicked out or ran away or for whatever reason have ended up on the street. Youth who dont have money. And this show is all about spoiled little brats who get what they want, when they want it, how they want it, no matter the cost. Seriously, lets teach our children they can get whatever they want specially because they have alot of money! Thats a great lesson in life. It kinda sickens me. Really tells you how important this world has made money.
With the stuff we have, we are grateful. We have a roof over our head, food in our stomachs, and clothes on our bodies. We are by no means well off, but we are doing ok. I think learning to work for what you have is a great lesson. Life doesnt come easily. So why teach our children that?
